“Identity and Sense of Belonging” – Relationship with our community
This publication and yearly research project, wants to examine the relationship between children, the school community and the larger community. It integrates significant and challenging themes of how we can come to understand who we are in relation to the community we belong. How can we sustain and facilitate this sense of belonging in children? Are children building a sense of belonging just with the simple fact of inhabiting a place such as their school alongside other children and adults? Or is their sense of belonging actively promoted by routines, sharing opportunities and family participation? What can we do in order to encourage the family’s participation in the school community? And how can we keep the families an active part of our yearly project and learning adventure?
